RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - The first day of school has become a season in Central Virginia.

The first days for public schools stretch from July 22 through late August.

The first day of school photos is sponsored by the Virginia Department of Education. As another school year approaches, the DOE is stressing the importance of children not missing important instructional time.

Please note: We ask that you do not post photos with signs that include personal details, such as first/last name, teacher names, favorite things, etc. We will not approve those photos this year.
