Tazewell County Public Schools welcomes students back for first day of school

TAZEWELL COUNTY, Va. (WVVA) - Students in Tazewell County returned to the classroom on Thursday. All fourteen public school in the county are kicking off the new school year.
Students in the county are seeing abbreviated school days Thursday and Friday as kids ease back into the school flow. Their first full day of school starts on Aug. 19.
Tazewell County students are required to have 180 days of school and for now, pending any snow days, their last day of school is set for May 23. Leaders with Tazewell County Public Schools say they’re excited to get this year underway.
“It was a really, really busy day with our buses on the road. Then of course with our people that come by car. So, we are excited for the school year and the rigor relevance relations that is Tazewell County Public Schools,” said director of public relations for TCPS, Lindsey Mullins Woodard.
